NDA clarifies organization and responsibilities

The names of the five divisions under the NDA have now been formalized as follows: Division of Integration, Division of Policy Planning, Division of Data Resources, Division of Digital Economy, and Division of Digital Science and Technology and Infrastructure Development.
Information on the interview schedule made public by the State Civil Service Agency indicates that interviews for proposed staff were conducted on February 25, 2024, in the NDA's General Division, Policy Planning Division, and Data Resources Division, and on February 24, 2024, in the Digital Economy Division, and the Digital Science, Technology, and Infrastructure Development Division.

The NDA was formed on the basis of the Party and State Institutions Reform Program issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council in March 2023, and was formally inaugurated on 25 October 2023.
In March 2023, the Party and State Institutional Reform Program clarified the responsibilities of the National Data Bureau as: responsible for coordinating the promotion of the construction of the data foundation system, coordinating the integration, sharing and development and utilization of data resources, and coordinating the promotion of the planning and construction of digital China, the digital economy and the digital society, which will be managed by the National Development and Reform Commission. At the same time, the program decides to place the responsibilities of researching and formulating the construction program of digital China, coordinating and promoting the informatization of public services and social governance, coordinating and promoting the construction of smart cities, coordinating the development, utilization and sharing of important national information resources, and promoting the cross-sectoral interconnection and interoperability of information resources across industries and sectors undertaken by the Office of the Central Committee for Cybersecurity and Informatization, and the responsibilities of coordinating the promotion of the development of the digital economy undertaken by the NDRC, The National Development and Reform Commission is responsible for coordinating and promoting the development of the digital economy, organizing the implementation of the national big data strategy, promoting the construction of a basic system for data elements, and promoting the layout and construction of digital infrastructure.
