Energy giant hit by ransomware attack with terabytes of data at risk of compromise

Energy management and automation giant Schneider Electric has been hit by a Cactus ransomware attack on the company's sustainability business unit, according to foreign media reports. The attack resulted in some of the functionality of Schneider Electric's Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Advisor Cloud platform being affected, which has yet to be recovered. The ransomware gang reportedly stole several terabytes of company data during the cyberattack and demanded that the company pay a ransom or it would be compromised. Schneider has confirmed the attack and is working on remediation efforts.2023 Schneider was one of the high-profile companies attacked in the MOVEit breach.
