Four domestic cyber attackers arrested for developing ransomware with the help of ChatGPT ChatGPT, the first such case involving a popular virus within China Local chatbots not officially available.
The attack was first reported by an unidentified company in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, whose systems were blocked by ransomware, Xinhua reported on Thursday. The hackers demanded 20,000 Tether, a cryptocurrency stablecoin pegged one-to-one to the U.S. dollar, to restore access.
Police arrested two suspects in Beijing and two others in Inner Mongolia in late November, who admitted to "writing ransomware, optimizing the program with the help of ChatGPT, conducting vulnerability scans, gaining access through infiltration, implanting ransomware, and carrying out ransomware attacks." The report refers to "extortion".
