Singapore's leading hotel leaks data on 665,000 customers

Marina Bay Sands (MBS) luxury resort and casino in Singapore has suffered a serious data breach affecting the personal data of 665,000 customers. The breach could have a huge negative impact on MBS as hackers could use the stolen data to conduct a variety of fraud, phishing and social engineering attacks against MBS customers. Although casino members (Sands Rewards Club) have no evidence of being affected at this time, MBS has notified affected customers and informed them of the possible risks posed by the personal data breach. In addition, MBS has reported the incident to authorities in Singapore and other relevant countries. While the exact scope of the cyberattack has not been made public, the intrusion may be related to a ransomware attack. Fortunately, as of now, no ransomware attacker has claimed responsibility for the MBS data breach. The details of this incident are yet to be further investigated and publicized.
