Combining Cymru Team's threat intelligence and threat hunting capabilities with Amplicy's Internet asset discovery and vulnerability management will give enterprise defenders a complete view of their organization's cyber risks.
The Cymru team acquired Amplicity for an undisclosed amount.
The Cymru team provides visibility into Internet traffic and provides threat intelligence to threat collection teams and enterprise incident responders. Amplicity is an attack technology and vulnerability management company that provides real-time Internet asset discovery and vulnerability mining, including application and infrastructure vulnerabilities. Amplicity's collection of assets, including third-party assets as well as an organization's own assets, is used to generate a risk score based on an assessment of the organization's attack surface. The dashboard allows organizations to track vulnerable assets and see the impact of mitigation activities on their risk scores.
The Cymru team plans to integrate Amplicity's insight engine into its product portfolio, providing enterprise defense teams with the ability to identify all of their assets, including third- and fourth-party assets, as well as the remote workers connected to their environment. Cymru’s large-scale integration will provide enterprises with a complete view of their cyber risks, the Cymru team said. Being able to see the assets and dependencies belonging to third-party vendors and network infrastructure providers will give organizations a better understanding of their supply chain risks.
According to the Cymru team, gaps between attack surface management, threat intelligence and vulnerability management currently make it difficult for security teams to effectively perform all three tasks. Enterprise security teams need to know what their organization's attack surface looks like, understand attackers' goals and methods used, and understand what vulnerabilities exist in their environment. While attack surface management tools often focus on discovering assets and mapping inventory so that organizations know what attackers are seeing, they often do not provide insights into attacker behavior, such as what attackers are targeting.
The Cymru team says that combining these three into a platform to identify where attackers are likely to attack next and the methods they will use will enable senior managers to make risk-based decisions and give defenders the knowledge to take Knowledge of effective responses.
“It’s important to understand what you own and what ‘owns you’, such as third-party vendors, their network infrastructure providers and their dependencies.” Rabbi Rob Thomas, CEO of Team Cymru "The combination of Cymru Team and Amplicity will provide this insight, along with the ability to deeply investigate and track threats, transforming our customers' risk management andinformation securitymethod.
